Dear Guests,

We can’t wait to welcome you back to the Fox and Hounds and we are delighted that, following the Government’s announcement today, we will be re-opening on Saturday, 4th July!!  However, things maybe a little different to what you are used to when we re-open.   We are following the guidelines set out by the Government and putting procedures in place to allow you to enjoy our hospitality in this “new normal”.   We hope that you will bear with us whilst everyone gets used to these changes.

Firstly, although social distancing measures have been reduced to one metre, we will have to move tables in the restaurant, and reduce the number of potential covers in accordance with the guidelines.  We will only be able to offer table service and, due to reduced staffing levels, this will mean that for the weekend of Saturday, 4th July and Sunday 5th July our usual online reservation system will not be available.   We will, therefore, be taking reservations in the good old fashioned way, either via e mail or by telephone. 

On Saturday, 4th July we will be offering lunch service between 12 noon and 3 p.m. and dinner service between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.  

On Sunday, 5th July there will be two lunch sittings, the first from 12 noon to 1 p.m. and the second from 2.30 p.m. – 3.30 p.m.  For each service there will be a total of 13 tables, nine tables inside and four outside.   We have chosen to do this because, although we feel we have covered every angle, we would welcome your feedback as to how you feel about the procedures we have put in place.

For this weekend only (July 4th and July 5th) we will still be offering a takeaway service with a slightly more limited onsite dining menu than usual.

Please be aware that whilst social distancing measures remain in place we will be unable to take bookings for parties larger than 8 persons.   This is to ensure the comfort of all of our guests and staff.   Additionally, I regret loyalty cards will not be accepted until September 2020.

Going forward, from Monday, 6th July we will be open seven days a week.   Monday and Tuesday from 4.30 p.m. – 8.30 p.m. for drinks only (however, private dining will be available on request).   Wednesday to Saturday from 11.00 a.m. – 11.00 p.m. with food available between 12 noon and 2.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. and 9.00 p.m.   On Sunday from 12 noon until 6.00 p.m. with food available between 12 noon and 4.00 p.m.

As we can only offer table service, you will be directed to a specific table on your arrival to the pub, even if this is just for drinks.  We will have some dedicated areas for people just wanting to have a drink but, in order for this to be a success, we would ask you to please work with our staff.   The staff will explain the new procedures in place upon your arrival but, unfortunately, anyone not willing to abide by these new house rules and guidelines will be refused service and asked to leave the premises.


Whilst we want everyone to enjoy their return to the pub we would respectfully remind you that, with a very limited income over the last three months, together with the new restrictions to our trading, it would not be financially viable for us to sustain our business should you only wish to occupy a table just for a cup of tea!

To all those guests who have supported us over the last three months by purchasing vegetable boxes, wine and takeaways we will be eternally grateful.   You have allowed us to be in a position to re-open the pub and without that support our future would have looked very different.  

We look forward to seeing you all very soon with ridiculous hair styles, tales of DIY projects that have gone awry and, possibly , that second language you have learnt during lockdown!!!
